Theft of Vehicle - Crime awareness

Dear Residents,

Recently there has been a focus of criminality with regards to vehicle thefts on the rise in areas of notice around the Levenshulme, Fallowfield and Withington areas and most theft of vehicle offences (opportunistic) are also in the Withington area, though this is a nationwide problem that is becoming increasingly more frequent. In the previous four weeks, Ford Fiesta’s have been the most stolen vehicles with four stolen, taken by means of either whilst the car has been left running or by keyless entry. Keyless entry crimes can be reduced by placing your vehicle’s key in a Faraday Pouch or box. This pouch blocks any signal from being transmitted to devices that offenders use to unlock and start vehicles, without the physical key being present at the car and in most cases whilst the key is still inside a property.

Our PCSO’s would gladly come and visit your home address and provide you with a pouch for your key, to prevent you from becoming a victim of crime and bring offending down. If you would like to be visited, please contact your local PCSO to find out more.
